I watched the man out the window as he dragged his kayak out to sea. Just as he’d get ready to launch, a huge frothy wave would come barreling over the top of him.

The kayak would fly off in one direction. Then I’d see a paddle emerge from the sea. He’d walk back to his boat, try again, only to have himself and the boat tossed around by the wave.

Finally, the last wave took the boat and threw it all the way to shore. When the man, in his thirties, stood up, he looked up at the heavens and stretched out his arms.

O tempo que vivemos e que se prolonga na tradição católica surgida no século VIII, até ao dia de veneração dos “Reis Magos”, Belchior, Gaspar e Baltazar a 6 de Janeiro de 2018, é considerado como a quadra natalícia, tornando interessante recuperar a autêntica pessoa do homenageado Jesus, que presumivelmente nasceu a 25 de Dezembro, o essencial da sua mensagem e o melhor do seu impacto histórico, porque apesar de não ter deixado nem uma só palavra escrita, nenhuma figura histórica exerceu uma influência maior ou igual na história da humanidade. Muitas vezes se tem apresentado Jesus como um personagem intemporal, uma alma pacata sem retiro, alegrias, desejos e paixões, como uma peça de museu, como um cordeiro manso que cumpria cabalmente com as suas obrigações, como alguém que nunca desfrutou da ousadia de um jovem, porque sempre encarnou os sonhos da velhice, quase um fetiche.

There’s so much talk about finding that extraordinary love of our life. Maybe everything we need to know about romantic love can be learned from our friends.
