O mecanismo de cooperação do Grupo dos 20 (G20), nas últimas duas décadas, conseguiu transformar-se de uma reunião de ministros de finanças e governadores de bancos centrais a um mecanismo multilateral de coordenação e diálogo conduzido pelos líderes do bloco, passando de uma estrutura de resposta a crises para um mecanismo de longo prazo, servindo como plataforma principal para a governança económica global. O G20 desempenhou um papel crucial, especialmente ao enfrentar a crise financeira e outros desafios globais.

O presidente Xi Jinping em resposta aos mais sérios desafios globais enfrentados pela sociedade humana, deu uma “receita chinesa” no seu discurso de abertura da “Conferência sobre o Diálogo das Civilizações Asiáticas (CDAC na sigla inglesa)” que teve por tema “enfrentar desafios comuns e avançar para um futuro melhor, requer força económica e tecnológica, mas também cultural e civilizacional”, realizada no Centro Nacional de Convenções de Pequim, a 15 de Maio de 2019. Devido à diversidade de civilizações, é necessário aprender umas com as outras retirando lições para o desenvolvimento.
